Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice

Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice knows exactly what makes a truly “ONO” (Delicious) and “No Ka Oi” (The Best) Shave Ice ever. The shave ice is one of the most powdery fine-grained. Absolutely no chunks of ice. They have a large selection of flavors to choose from. All of the syrups are made from scratch by Ululani. She uses only C&H pure cane sugar and filtered purified water. The minute Ululani’s Hawaiin Shave Ice dissolves in your mouth, you will definitely feel the LOVE on how Ululani created all the syrups and flavors. You will not regret it. Super ONO if you opt for ice cream on the bottom of your shave ice. Ululani’s also offer toppings such as coconut and li hing mui powder. Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice is located at 819 front Street Lahaina. It the real deal and a must stop on your trip to Maui.

David is Ululani’s husband who you would normally see at Lahaina’s location. You shall witness his excellence in making powdery soft shave ice. He does it just right. David mentors and trains all Ululani’s staff to create a delicious and unforgettable Hawaiian Shave Ice.
Ululani’s opened a second location

Pukalani Superette

Pukalani Superette is located in Makawao, Maui. It’s a small supermarket that will remind you of an old ma and pa grocery store that existed before the giant chain grocery stores came about. A place where locals particularly workers acquire their daily meals. Pukalani Superette is known for their daily “bento boxes”- authentic island food in a small plastic container (cooked rice is also sold separately). It is super “ONO” = GOOD … so delicious particularly the Chili Chicken – a breaded, crisp, moist juicy chicken covered in a sweet spicy sauce.

Some may say this is not a touristic spot. However, if you are coming from Haleakala or planning to be in up-country Maui and looking for a place to grab some food Pukalani Superette is a place to stop by.

Mama’s Fish House

Mama’s – as the locals call it – is one of the most picturesque dining hot spots on Maui. Formerly an old Coconut grove by the ocean, Mama’s Fish House offers the freshest fish on the island. You can see fisherman deliver their freshest catch daily. The ambiance is great complimented by their uniquely eclectic  restaurant design. The exterior looks like a self made island thatch hut with intricate rain gutters throughout the restaurant. The interior is a cozy eclectic mixture of exotic wood furniture, oriental rugs, beautiful flower arrangements, local island art and varnished bamboo tiki bars. The food is “ONO” – DELICIOUS, although it might be a bit pricey.

Also, don’t forget to bring your camera as the coconut grove offers great memorable pictures. It is amazing how natural light gets the right amount of filtering so that beautiful pictures of Maui’s north shore can be captured, time after time.

Visit Mama’s and experience their Aloha spirit, fine island dining and take back beautiful pictures of your visit to Maui’s north shore.
